Posture

Problem:

  • The player’s address position is either too stooped over or too upright resulting most times in a posture that is hard to keep throughout the swing. Having a good set up position – posture – is an especially important role in having a good rotation.

Practice:

  • Stand straight without tension: Now hinge from the hips, not your waist, and stick your bottom out slightly for more balance. Let your arms hang naturally from your shoulders. This is the part that feels different for many golfers, but it’s what puts you in a powerful, balanced position to rotate. Keep your back relatively straight but tilted forward with arms still hanging straight down from your shoulders. Practice getting into this position in front of a mirror. After you feel comfortable getting into the posture position cross your arms across your chest and practice your rotation. Still in front of a mirror watching yourself keeping the angle of your back throughout your rotation.
